Ancient Creature unearthed:

The mining company has broken through into the dwelling of an ancient creature. To determine what this creature is, roll up one random encounter from the Cave Setting of the region in which the mining team is digging.

This creature can be friendly, neutral, or hostile, depending on the outcome of the roll. Remember, this creature is unique; a one of a kind.

The creature rolled up in the Cave Setting will not be that exact same creature. The creature rolled up is to give the G.M. an idea, or a basis, for the creature unearthed. When the encounter is rolled up, transform it into something more than what it actually is, for this creature will be unique.

Example:
My players are doing some mining. The team of miners has been steadily tunneling within the boudaries of the Dense Forest Region. After 3 moons (90 days), the team has unfortunately, unknowingly, tunneled right into the lair of an Ancient subteranian creature.
As the G.M., I go to the Cave Setting of the Dense Forest Region and roll up the creature on that chart. The resulting roll is a Jahmur, which appears to be a cross between a humanoid and alligator, rather large in size. According to the descriptions of the Jahmur, it is a born hunter and is of a naturally evil disposition. Since this is the case, I will make that the basis of the creature the mining team has encountered (not a good situation for the miners).
Since it is ancient, I'm going to make it larger and give it the ability of infra-red vision. I've decided it is not sentient, but relies on its instincts to make decisions. I'm not going to make it so strong that it can destroy them easily (if they had been warned of a subteranian horror where they were mining, then I might make the creature much stronger . . . but I did not add that little bit of information in as we role-played).
I'm also going to make this creature exo-skeletal and give it a Damage-Reduction of 7 vs. physical and earthen attacks. I'll make it slower, thus its Defense will be lowered a bit, but its 2 bites per turn will be high damaging. I'll make its outer plate-like bone-structure as hard as Admontanium Plate armor as well.
Seeing it is subteranian, sunlight will partially blind it for 1-D12 +1 turns, enforcing a -30 to its Offensive / Defensive rolls. Torch light will only give it a -10, kerosine lantern light will double that penalty to -20.
End Example

An Ancient Creature unearthed can be anything. It could even be a trapped being of considerable power (good or evil . . . holy or unholy . . . even apathetic). This will be strictly up to the Discretion of the G.M.
